I feel you mate.
But as a seasoned Erenischian I'd be surprised if we saw a new comic released before April.

I guess that comes down to pricing [of the comics].

And demand of course. Sadly Dof doesn't release sales numbers, so we don't know how many copies they sell of each comic.

There's 250+ users who have posted more then once on this forum, but then there's a few lurkers as well (2200+ registered users) and then of course far from every customer is registered at this forum. But the number of active posters say something about the customer base.

If the artist could do this at 100%, how many comics would be produced per year? 6, 12, 24, 36, 52? How many would the average fan buy? At which price? When would the market become saturated?

To be able to quit the day job, the comic business probably need to generate 30 to 50 thousand dollars yearly to the artist. That's after the sales organization and the payment facilitors have their cut (say 50% of the revenue is lost), so double that needs to be generated by sales. The 30 to 50 thousand revenue for the artist's company is then reduced by corporate taxes, salary taxes, operation overhead (insurance, equipment, etc) before the artist sees any real money.

So, if there's 100 fans willing to pay $80 per comic, for 12 comics each year, it probably could be done.
But are there 100 fans out there willing and able to fork up $1000 annually on porn? Or 1000 fans willing to fork up $100?

At the current rate, 2,5 comics/year at €20 each, the artist would need to sell more than 2500 copies of each comic to match even a low paying job. E's displayed cerebral and educational level hints of a capacity for something else. But then, E might be a librarian...

Well, Everyone has to eat. And I don't think any of us would like to think of E as the starving artist.

While it would be nice to get a comic say every 2 to 3 months, I think we are getting quality over quantity here. We can all name an artist or 2 who have turned out a lot of comics quickly and the stories have been rather the same with each one.

So I like to think of E being like the old world craftsmen who take their time and turn out something wonderful.

I think a patreon could help, a few DOfantasy artists are there already (Ted Owen, Eromaxi), with some good reward tiers it could generate some good amount of money

Great analysis!

Around ten years ago (in the pre-eReader days) the rule of thumb was that you needed at least 45 thousand paperback sales a year to quit your day job. That usually meant publishing three novels a year with about 15 thousand sales each. Once you hit the bigtime and had your novels first published as hardbacks, your income went up significantly.

I'd gladly spare about 10 dollars monthly for regular E comics. Thats a couple bigmacs. Instead of a big conglomeration E would get it. :D

I think Patreaon is a good idea but isn't there a limit on porn themes? I mean r@pe and BDSM themes may be banned there.

if it is banned one can go for other avenues

Eromaxi does light bondage and rubber stuff so maybe E can do a similar thing too. I'd love to see an image set of Maggie in bondage for example. I'd kill for an image set of Anna in a torture chamber.

:)

I might start a Patreon page, but I think the theme will be milder.

I'm still undecided on the next comic. I was going to do the second part of Slave Fair, but changed my mind. I will do something different, maybe a flashback episode. I can start working on it next week, so you'll see it in a two-to-three months?

Goodie. I'd love to a very obedient slave go, maybe not willingly, but self propelled, into rough situations. Like Trionas protagonist in the Bad Lieutenant series or papa Stevenson's painslut slave at the office. I'm picturing a story where she gets out and about the town running errands for her owner and ends up in all kind of perils. I mean, if you needed some inspiration.
