Hi.
Like most of us here as well as enjoying the great stories, I also have a desire to understand what goes into creating them. So I thought I would ask a few questions. Not just what sort of arts software you use, but more into the mindset behind your work, so we can better understand how our favourite stories are created. So here is the little list of serious questions I hope you will be able to answer.

• What are your beliefs and values about your work? (Not just the ones that go into the story lines, but about the act of drawing itself.)

• What do you tend to think and feel as you draw your comics?

• Is there anything you visualize before or while drawing? (More about the work than the image.)

• What do you believe keeps you drawing your comics? (Other than us in the fan base heaping praise on you.)

• What do you personally believe makes the difference between a successful and failed drawing on your part?

• Which other artist/cartoonists do you personal look to for inspiration?

• And finally, what sort of things tend to inspire your stories?

I hope these questions are not too much of a bother and I look forward to learning more about how your mind works when you create.

You gotta be more specific here. I like to make characters realistic as possible. Not in body proportions of course, but in the way they act and feel. They have to respond like real humans would to the circumstances they were put in. Even in the most unrealistic environments, a real character makes the story worth following. I guess my central value is just that. A good example is Joss Whedon's body of work. Neither Buffy nor Firefly universes can hold up under scrutiny, they are just flimsy excuses for him to showcase his fascinating characters. His is a master of creating three-dimensional people interacting in a very real way.

Mostly lust? :)

I generally "draw the comic in my mind" before I start. It often changes a lot in mid-process, but I usually have a mental movie running as I draw.

Praise-heaping is great, but I do it for self-satisfaction. This is the only porn in the world accurately calibrated to my personal tastes. I occasionally throw in a fan-service bit in there, but nothing beyond my own tastes.

I immediately like or dislike an image, mine or someone else's. It is almost impossible to say how. Sometimes you see the great talent and honed craftsmanship behind the image, but you hate it anyway. Conversely a bad artist can create a very sexy image. It is a very personal thing.

A lot of great talent out there, it is just impossible to keep their names in my head. Whenever this question pops up, I draw a blank... so I always go with Dolcett or Serpieri... Of course I'm talking about adult-comics here.

Nothing special, just daily life stuff. I like to convert mundane situations into sexy instances. I like that challenge. In real life too. A belt is the best bondage gear in the world (as I keep saying in my comics), it is much more versatile than specially made latex restraints. Don't get me wrong, I like some latexy goodness in my stories too, but it doesn't sound like a worthy challenge to make bondage comics when you put everybody in latex catsuits and heavy cuffs. Making a bondage story where none of the characters is physically tied up in any way, now that is my cup of tea. :)

I really enjoyed these insights. Thank you to both of you!

This read like an interview. Loved it.

I also feel freshly appreciative for our great community here, and for how active Erenisch is here. Love you guys. Xo

I agree - great questions PJ, and thank you E for all the answers. I liked this statement: "This is the only porn in the world accurately calibrated to my personal tastes". It's uncanny how much of what E does is accurately calibrated to my own personal tastes!

I have the same tastes but I'm no longer sure if I had them already or got them from EC :P

Interesting questions and answers. Master C has said it, thanks to both of you.

The truth is that knowing these answers is better understood the way you work.

I do not always agree on tastes, but it is nice to discover different points of view and see them reflected in comics.
