where Erenisch says:

The episode title for BG9 is Vengeance. I was undecided between Vengeance and Karma until the last minute, but when I did the cover, it named itself... You'll see why both names could work when you read the comic.

I think E had the right idea when he/she wanted to name the episode "Karma". That would be a better fit imo. Gat's list can be even longer if it was named as such.

What do you think?

Hmmm.. well maybe karma would have been a better title, but its easy for us to be armchair generals and 2nd guess from the safety of the forum.

Karma may have been a good title, but Vengeance sells more comics. I'm sure anybody who is new to dofantasy would find Vengeance my enticing then Karma.

BTW I really didn't find this issue as dark as some of the previous ones. Unless one considers the end very dark.

I consider the end very dark, but aside from those last 2 pages, I feel the same way. BG 4, that was dark!

really? just out of curiosity, why do you think BG4 is dark? Is that because of the house invasion?
personally I thought For Sale is dark (if you count it as a BG episode, which I do myself). Also BG7, with that crazy twist ending.

(It actually literally ended in darkness. :) )

I call BG4 dark because of the in-house invasion, coupled with r@ping a girl, taking her virginity, in her own room, in front of her mother, force her mother to watch, while also r@ping her mother at the same time, making both of them beg and humiliate themselves and then sentencing both of them to a life of slavery, ...all at once. That is about as dark as you can get without killing anyone.

Yeah a very cruel ending but MrGoodPecker has right: also BG7 had a very dark end, actually the darkest (without killings) for me, in fact we seen a girl (Anna) kidnapped, r@ped, and her abductor fated her to stay immobilized with her head closed in a small dark box (reading the last three panels,I could almost hear her screams  ).

But if we consider killings the darkest, for me, is Slave Fair 2 with the poor Anita.

yeah Anita's death was very dark, and despite my policy of not approving of killing, there was something that was incredibly sick, yet hot about that, I think it was the look on her face. I think BG 4 was darker than BG 7 though, just the way Gwen was violated in every possible way, everything that made her feel safe was taken away from her all at once, her mom, her virginity, her home, even her name, I think the emotional impact was more powerful, and I like the emotions, especially despair. (evil laugh).

I enjoyed the discussion here and the detailed itemized reviews. So why don't I do my own.

Overall, I think it is a great comic. I'd give it a 8.5 out o 10. (BG8 gets 9, and 10 is an unachievable excellence in comics ;) )
I have to say that I share Gatolica's opinion that this comic is the most "feminine" story. I just can't tell why exactly, but I got that feeling. I'm not completely convinced like Gatolica that E is female, but if this comic was my only reference I'd guess woman.

-I really loved the flashbacks. I liked the sepia look for Molly's story. It actually happens in the future (late 2010s) but it looks like the 60s. :) Funny. Seeing what Maggie went through on her E-day is also great. You may not know this, but before I wrote my Tammy story, I asked E what happens during registration and he/she described me the process exactly like this. So I guess this part of the story was already written back then.

-I loved the whole role reversal in the Maggie/Molly relationship. The dog bowl and the slave food, foot-licking, muff-diving all rhyming with BG1. The only thing missing was Maggie forcing Molly on her master's cock, but since Paul is away, that would not be possible anyway.

-I enjoyed the wedding pictures part very much. I guess that part was not fully in tune with the overall theme of the comic, but aren't we all glad to know Sherry had a wonderful bridal gangbang? :) Great memories!

-I particularly enjoyed the storytelling approach in this comic. It was actually a double-layered story. While we were shown a story, the characters of those stories were telling us other stories. Maggie was telling about her pre-enslavement days wile she was serving Peter in the morning, then the wedding photos told us the story of the gangbang while Sherry and Paul were enjoying themselves on the beach. After that, Molly and Maggie were playing together and telling us their own stories. Then comes the scene with Ms. Pierce where Peter and Jeff talk about something completely separate from the action. A double-decker.

-I know it is controversial but I loved the ending. Superb twist and shocking character development. And very skillfully done too. The moment Anna gets out of the dungeon is priceless.

-Lastly, I loved all the TV shows and commercials. The bonnyhops show was first seen in "For Sale". There was a poster on Cindy's wall, and I guess it was the same one on Maggie's wall in this comic. The business program for women cracked me up. The expression on that woman's face was great.

Thats what Im talking about when I said the comic is most female-friendly one. That piece of dialogue is very familiar and must be written by a female. I thought the same thing many times myself

I'm pretty sure that's a quote from a hollywood movie (that's a mainstream movie, you sick perverts. I don't watch porn ;)), but I can't remember what movie.

Great review! Another "role reversal" I noticed was that Molly is hanging the square cage that Paul bought for Maggie at the end of BG 1. Good catch on the bunnyhops poster from for sale. I also loved the look of the flashbacks. The many flashbacks in the first half of the story created an interesting structure. Even the scene where Peter whips Maggie and then carries her to bedwas a flashback from Gwen's perspective.

I agree that the story telling was good, at least in the first half of the story. I thought the first half was better than the 2nd half. Once the boys got to school, and the flashbacks all ended it kinda lost steam. When Gwen finally made her move to try and win Peter's affection, I was expecting something a little more dramatic to happen. Gwen's jealousy of Maggie had been building since BG7, the scene was OK in itself but when I realized it was the last scene before we zoom to Steve's house at the end, I was like "that's it?" I was expecting more of a climax.

Holy Shhh..

I cannot offer any convincing post-rationalization gems for this one. Maybe a paranormal explanation: The ghost leash!

(By the way, I cannot believe you saw this, but nobody noticed Maggie's mysterious vanishing collar?)

Awww.... I was really looking forward to a good one too.

I thought of one that should work though: She's day dreaming about being free before all this happend, so her imagination makes it seem she has no colar or lead on, but the mirror is showing the unavoidable truth that we all see.

That's the best I got. Anyone else have a better post-rat?

It is actuallly weirder than this thread would appear to suggest.

The leash is clearly on her because it is seen on her both before and after this image and not in reflection but then Tawnie or Gwen must remove it as she is stripped to the choker when they go girl on girl. Are Slave girls allowed to remover leashes? Is this mutiny a part of Gwen's campaign to unseat Maggie? Speaking of Maggie who put her on the leash anyway- it cannot have been Peter or the fact it was missing who have been mentioned when he reassigns Gwen, so ti must have been Maggie or perhaps she is still Molly's private bitch?

There is of course one other explanation. It is artistic short hand for the "passionate undressing as forepaly scene" which the girls nudity would otherwise preclude.

Well...This comic is quite dark. Like I wrote before, the killings don't do it for me, even if it's just a fantasy world.

Apart from that, I liked the new status of Molly. ;) I think she will make a great dog and that she will get used to her new role really quickly (since everybody will treat her as such).
I also liked Sluttypig new way of acting and thinking: it is a joy to see her face full of gratefullness for her Master's praise.

The single shot on Page 37, where Sluttypig is fetching a piece of paper is Awesome! Again, I just love the contrast between a well groom women and a slave on all fours. The fact that the slave is naked, collarded and leashed, that she's been treated as a bitch, that she responds obediantly to a insulting name, that she's only thinking in receiving a nasty reward IS amazing.

It should be fun to see the disgust in the faces of free woman when a slave is commanded to act in such depraved manner (I almost seen that in previous BG comics, but, the free woman faces showed pity, not disgust). That way, the contrast would be greater; as the well-trained slave would be happy to perform such vile acts!

Agreed on all counts. I also really enjoyed Sluttypig's small role in this and her new outlook on life!

What about a live action adaptation of the birthday gift series? I have been thinking about this a long time. It would not be that hard, with only a few exceptions, none of them require expensive sets or special effects. BG could be made into a very good mini-series on a small budget.

Oh the horror. I'm getting chills just thinking how badly acted this could be.

(Of course if they are going for laughs in a parody that would be different.)
