I'm pretty new to this universe so I'm looking for advice. Where would be a good place to start? What comic or series would be easy for me to follow along and get a good introduction into this universe. A friend of mine introduced me into this universe by showing me a few samples....one where slaves were used as fireworks for entertainment...I was hooked :)

I think, you should read the Birthday Gift series, after that, anything else, in your interestings.

I don't know about official cronological order, but I'm still new.

Hello both new people!

I'd say you may want to start with Slave Fair 1 or 2, as it gives a sort of overview of the world, and you'll get a decent overview of the world.

The image you saw I think was from Slave Fair 2.

Hello Mj.skywalker, Lord looking for.

For a chronological list of the comics see this wiki page

http://www.erenischcomics.com/ewiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

As for reading advice, I recommend starting with BG1 and BG2 together, then Slave Fair, the Clinic and Slavecop 2.

Then you will read all of them because this stuff is addictive.

I agree with the others. For the best reader experience and most joy, read them in release order. The art is getting better by every issue, so going backwards would not be good (and of course, the plot will be better taken in the right order  ). Erenisch likes to weave in cameos and small plot diversions in all of the comics, so if your getting hooked like us, your enjoy that part better if taken in order.

Then again, if you're on a budget, and buying them all in one go is bit hefty (don't forget to check out the discount system at Dof), please know that Ernisch goes some lengths to make most of the comics as stand alone episodes. On the other hand, our bellowed artist does these on a spare time basis, so the output rate isn't all that hard to catch up with (no criticism, dear E). If you pace your self a bit, reread every issue 2, 3 or 20 times (as some of us do  ), you will have a couple of very gratifying years ahead of you.

I'd say, start with BG1 & 2 and one Slave Fair, if you're not blow away, but still want to see some more, stick with the BG series and leave the side show be for now.

Unless, of course, your a sucker for females trained as puppies and ponies, the you should dive into the Sluts in training series first! :D

Kudos to M.G.P. That's exactly the order in which I'd suggest a newcomer begin the exploration of the E-verse. Part of the ongoing delight of E.'s work is the variety of intersecting story lines, characters and circumstances that add up to create the alternate reality as a whole. But starting with those foundational works will definitely give a new reader an idea of which tangents to pursue and which stories to follow.

I disagree with everyone. Do NOT read them in order, because the newer ones are better. If you read the very earliest ones first, you won't experience the really high quality for a little while. I recommend you start with Birthday Gift 7 then go forward from there to the rest of the BG series. After that you can backtrack and read the earlier ones.

Thats what I did when I first read them.

I cannot agree with Otherguy about the BG series!

Whilst I can see the argument for ignoring the "early Erenisch" works such as Roommates and Family Slave Set ( they are good but the world, as well a the art, has moved on and has been done better since.) but with the BG series you have to start at one and put up with the artworki. Birthday Gift is a 11 part series, to arbitrarily ignore two thirds of it simply because the art is not of the same quality as later episodes seems self-defeating at best.

To ignore them is to lose the story development, characters traits and development that we all agree is what makes E stand out from the crowd of Dofantssy artists. To start from BG7 is to simply go for beautiful artwork and that is to ignore E's strengths.

I've said it before and I'll say it again;

I like E's early artwork. Yes it is more simplistic but that does not make it bad. The greater sophistication is simply a matter of improved technique, the talent was there and shows right from the beginning.

(I love Family Slave Set)

When I picked up Slavemart for Taboo Illustrated there was some surprise because the artwork was simpler than most of what we were running at the time, but I found that charming. Most of all, I liked the originality of the ideas and the dark, subtle humor of the narrative.

I definitely think E.'s early work has an appeal of its own and should be viewed by anyone who wants to see the arc of the artist's development.

The early stuff is good. The later stuff is better. In every way. In every way the later comics are better than the early ones. BG 8 is the greatest moment in the history of porn. Its the moment the entire art form forever had the bar raised. Its more important than the Story of O, or Gor or any of the other pornographic artistic influence on our culture. Compared to BG 8, BG1 is not even in the same ballpark. I want our friend, "Newbie" to appreciate how ingenious these comics really are. If he starts at BG 1, he won't get that.

You have to remember, most people don't plan to sit down and read an 11 chapter porn novel, for $30 a chapter. The purchase price is large, so we need to steer people to the absolute best, and get them hooked!

Yes but the cost is a consideration.

For cost here is my solution. I actually followed this template. Buy the latest one or any one of the latest E comics since the Clinic.
(After that step you will probably feel the urge to buy all of them :) but you will not have the money.)

Now wait until you see some other dofantasy comic by another artist. Maybe you are tempted to buy it too.

Believe me, it is not worth it . So buy another Erenisch comic instead. :)

repeat until you have all E comics.

problem solved.

There is nothing here I would disagree with.

The latter stuff is indefinably superior. All I was arguing is not to start at BG 7. This is partly because of the character development, but also (as I know from bitter experience) it can give you spoilers that would ruin your enjoyment when you do go back to the older material.

My opinion may not carry as much weight as that of the really early followers, but given that I also came to this party half way through maybe my views may be of valuable to you.
To get the feel of the Universe I recommend the non main-series works, I'd start where I did: with "Slavecop 1", as far as universe introduction that's the best one (I think) it's also when you get that there's some really serious universe building in works. Then continue with either: "The Clinic", "Slavecop 2", "Karma" and "The Bottom" (my recommended order); or alternatively with "Slave Fair 1 & 2" (one of which you've probably read) and "Sluts in Training 1 & 2"; that will get you really hooked and motivated to go back to the early stuff and start reading in order.
It goes without saying that E's art evolves through time, but it gets to epic levels in "Sluts in Training 2" (or Birthday Gift 8 if you want to concentrate on the main series). Ultimately you'd like to get them all eventually, but for Universe introductory exploring that's my recommendation.

I'd save Karma to very late. The power shift in that one is nothing if not built up via the main BG series.

OK, not to be rude, but why is nobody recommending For Sale? Standalone story, brilliant artwork, great overview of the world. If you read that and it sets your world on fire, as it should, then start with BG1. You're in for a hell of a ride.

I actually started with For Sale! I am one of E's most rabid fans, so it certainly worked on me!

But after that I went directly to BG 8. For Sale got to buy 1 more E comic, BG 8 blew my mind and got me to buy 20 more E comics. Bg 8 was the real hook.
