Plus, I don't understand this "St Patty's Day" thing at all. Is it common for people called Patrick to be called "Patty" in the US?. Patty is more of a girl's name short for Patricia I would have thought. Patricks tend to get called Pat or Paddy in Ireland or in some cases Packie. The latter version being a little awkward to use in the UK given how it sounds like a pejorative term for a person of Pakistani descent.

I have no idea why it's called St. Paddy's here. I've not seen a lot of Patricks be referred to as Patty or even Paddy, it's just always Pat.
We have female-set Patty and Patti, but I've never met a paddy.
The Wikipedia pageof this in us doesn't help.

The only reasons I can think of, and this goes further into speculation than is normally go, is in some sort of mix with northeast us recent-ish accents.
A lot of New York and even Boston accents can switch a mid sentence t with a lighter d sound if spoken quickly, meaning New York. So for whatever reason if it was Pattys day, it was being said as Paddys day.

But it should also be said my understanding of early American accents is the hit Fox documentary Sleepy Hollow

But "Paddy" is perfectly normal. In the same way as Irish people would be called "Mick"s in the US, in the UK they use "Paddy" given how popular the names Michael and Patrick and derivatives thereof are among my countrymen. That's where the term "Paddy wagon" comes from - i.e. a police van full of (probably drunken) Irishmen who had just been arrested. In Ireland we say "St. Patrick's Day" or "Paddy's day" for short. The "St Patty's Day" thing is the one that I find perplexing especially given how it seems to be the default term in the US. Either way, here you will see people dressed with something green, watching a parade and going to the pub to have a few drinks. You will not see fountains or large bodies of water dyed green though and we have a welcome dearth of politicians as they are all abroad celebrating St Patrick's Day in other countries!

I'm just saying in my experience with Iridh culture here I've not heard a Paddy. No clue why, but it makes sense for Patty to be a guys name to like Jo or Bobbi or Ash

I've heard Paddy Wagon, so I know it's been used here. I'm just guessing I don't know a Paddy yet, which is odd as I'm smack between the two big Irish cities on the east coast.

Dang, are there any major celebs/cultural icons/politicians that stay on St. Patrick's Day

Calling it St Patty's Day is just ignorant people mispronouncing (and now misspelling) St Paddy's Day. :geek:

Isn't it nice that those good doctors put a blanket over her so her butt doesn't get cold? :D

Well it's probably in their own interest, in the next panel they go up her butt 8-)
(Most in that comic is in the doctors own interest. They have a slightly different take on the doctor/patient relationship :D )

This is actually one of the scenes I keep coming back to. I find the way E has drawn her ‘position’ very provoking. I keep thinking what kind of operation would require the feet to be kept in that position for real. (ignoring the hands and gag)
It does highlight the complete powerlessness of females in the universe that these bastions of help and comfort are now tools of oppression.

The position is great but the main thing in this scene is that the women are being forcefed animal semen through their gags.

Do tell when you've figured it out. Please.

The closest I have come so far is some sort of sitting on a hot seat. It would damage the bottom and back of the legs requiring lying on the front and elevating the legs.

Any advance?

I can think of two ways, both are either time intensive or risky. If the person involved was to near constantly be in ballet heels whenever they would otherwise be on foot. This would require regular movement, baths or sitting showers, and regular foot care as it adjusts to it's new position.
This would be best to do during body development stages, hence the creepy.

There can also be, and this is rare, a balance or induced vertigo that can make the person feel that they're falling backward, with being in heels as a way to obtain balance. Since that's hitting brain function, I think it's a horrible idea, but I know it exists.

The chains are there to pull the "patient" up and suspend her upside down. It is a complex pulley system for moving women around the hall.
