I'dlove to see what Erenisch would produce with a budget of 300 million. :)
I'd make a slightly better comic and pocket the remaining 299,999,900 bucks..... Probably spend it on Star Wars merchandise too. :D

I thought the movie was decent. It had some cool moments but it basically took everything they built on in the The Force Awakens and threw and the trash. The way they wrote Luke’s character was horrible. No wonder Mark Hamill was upset.

Saw it last night and I have to say I thought it was the most horrendous cinematic abomination in history. Pretty mucn killed my love of Star Wars in one misconceived swoop. Thank you for that Rhian Johnson.

Mark Hamill described it as being made by children. One tends to agree.

Glad I'm not the only one... :)

I just realized that using J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson's initials, you can spell Jar Jar.

I just saw 'The Last Jedi'.
Do I think it was a perfect movie?
No.
Would I have made different story/production choices?
Yes.
Do I like Porgs?
F.U. and the porg you rode in on.
Do I think it is an unnecessary remake of 'Empire Strikes Back'?
Unfortunately yes.
Did I like it!?

yes. yes I did.

Was Chewie roasting and eating a porg that night? If so, that's another level of weirdness.

Yes, yes he was. But he did it purely in the name of another misconceived piece of sledgehammer humour.

To be fair, the fact that Chewie may as well not have been in this movie considering what screen time he got and how little he contributed, does mean he is pretty much the only classic trilogy character that Disney have yet to dump over. They still have the misconceived Han Solo movie and Episode IX to achieve that goal though.

That's what I thought. So one of the side plots of the next episode will be about how Chewie redeems himself after killing, skinning, impaling and roasting that porg's family member or close friend and wins its friendship.

Also I don't think Chewie will be killed off as easily, only because he is just a tall guy in a costume as opposed to a recognizable actor with top billing. But of course, they can portray him as a drunken degenerate gambler who betrays his friends at a crucial time just to show that they are not afraid of subverting expectations or whatever.

Saw it today. Wasn't a fan but there were some cool bits.

Overall it was disappointing to say the least and for me this goes back to the force awakens. I only really liked the force awakens because it opened up a new "mythos" in star wars with there being so much potential for the sequel trilogy. Who was snoke? What happened? Why is Rey who had never been trained, so good at using a lightsaber and the force? The last jedi was not the film I was looking for.

Has anyone worked out how Rey got from Snoke's Flagship and back to the Falcon. because that's really got me puzzled?

I saw a video on Youtube where Daisy Ridley was asked how her character can fly the Millenium Falcon and her three word answer was
"She's hyper intelligent!". Given that is probably the full extent of the character description she was given by J.J Abrams I would not hold out too much hope for a realistic explanation. In the same style though perhaps it was this.

"She reached out to it in the Force, because she is SO much more powerful than Luke,Anakin, Obi Wan and Palpatine combined and summoned it to her. Chewie could have flown it to her but didn't, because that would require the character actually doing something proactive in the movie. After this, she then used her immense mastery of the force to launch the vessel across space and so arrive at a place she could have no reason to know nor care existed without complex hyperspace calculations in time to do an epic save."

It's either that or just rank bad writing by Rhian Johnson.

The director didn't always show what happened to the characters between locations. If he showed people entering and exiting speaceships we could follow the story better.
I think Kylo says something to Hux about it. She took the escape pod or something. How does he know? he was unconscious.

I totally agree. Star Wars movies are about locations that you travel to and from using hyperspace. We have to see them leave and arrive. This is how we follow the story. We always see people boarding ships, take offs and landings. Imagine this in the beginning of the New Hope. We see R2D2 and C3PO on Leia's ship, then somehow we see them walking on Tatooine. Then some stormtrooper informs his commander that a pod detached. Rian Johnson would approve. You save a lot of screen time but cutting the droids get in the pod, launch and land on the desert planet. He can use this time saved to show Luke jerking off a womp rat or Darth Vader wiping his ass. You know, to subvert expectations and get daring filmmaker points from paid-off reviewers.

Rian Johnson's writing is so bad, the damage to the star Wars universe cannot be easily undone. The hyperspace tracker thing is the worst idea ever. Now every writer who will attempt to write a SW screenplay is doomed to circumvent that shit. No ship will be able to escape, nobody will be able to hide in the entire galaxy. There can be no use for the Millennium Falcon in this setting. What is Star Wars if a junk Corellian freighter cannot outrun an Imperial cruiser?

Of course the rational thing to do is invent an anti-tracking device and install it in every rebel ship in the next movie. But the best thing to do is go back in time and NOT hire Rian Johnson.

I can easily fix this awful piece of writing with a 5 second addition to the movie. Show us one of the TIE fighters shoot a special tracking device on the resistance cruiser. Voila, it is the same tech from Episode 2. See how easy it was! Call the device "string", if you want to do your stupid little joke about "having the Resistance at the end of a string".

How about the "depleting fuel" plot device? Another piece of awful writing. If you want to make a movie about a continuous chase, make it a series of hyperspace jumps. Say the Resistance jumps, and it takes 5 minutes for the First Order to locate them. They shoot a few lasers and the Resistance jumps again. Repeat. See, this is still a chase, but now the First order doesn't appear to be led by complete idiots who cannot figure out that they can send a few cruisers ahead of the Resistence fleet to cut them off.

I think kylo says she stole Snoke’s escape vessel.

And make an editorial faux-pas for the ages. What were they smoking when they wrote and inserted that particular scene?

I agree entirely. I came out of the cinema stunned by it's relentless stupidity but now I am spending time trying to work out how they can make a finale that is not entirely reliant on deus ex machina concepts (here are those allies for the resistance that we have made no attempt to set up) and Mary Sue handwaves by Rey. They still have to make the First Order a credible threat as opposed to a bunch of lions led by clowns
