Just a note on the passing of Christopher Lee who died this week at 93. A man who served in the British army intelligence core in World War 2, spoke 6 languages, was a champion fencer, did all his own stunts and starred in over 300 movies. He must have been doing something right.
We will not see his like again.

I would also like to note the passing of Fagan on the same day.

Losing Count Dooku was a real blow.

The loss of Sir Christopher Lee is a tragedy for any lover of cinema. He made an enormous number of movies, some great some decent and some mindblowingly terrible. It is a great tribute to the man that his performances in the great ones was always memorable and he was usually the sole reason to watch the terrible ones.

Perhaps rightly best remembered for his role as Dracula and in the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies. I will always remember him for The Man with the Golden Gun where he made a horribly written, total scumbag of a Fleming character into a chllling but amiable killer and a worthy opponent to MI6's least competent spy. I also liked the Fu Manchu movies that were often decorated by young women chained to various walls and pillars. No idea why I thoought that may appeal on this forum

Because we love a good bad guy, and there were none better than Lee. In a way, it's unfortunate that he was so successful at playing villains because he was an actor of enormous versatility. I always wondered how he'd do in a romantic comedy. But then I'm weird that way.

Have you seen "The Devil Rides Out".
One of his best performances.
And he plays the hero.

A huge loss for sure. What perplexed me was his age. I'd peg him younger given his recent work in some physically demanding roles.

Among the many many great things Christopher Lee has done, He also did 3 metal albums at the age of 90. He's the oldest musician to ever have a record on billboard or major charts at 91.

He did it his way.

He was also the only person in the Lord of the Rings cast and crew to have actually met J. R. R. Tolkien, by chance in a pub.

Do you happen to have a source for this?
