I woke up this morning and turned on the news, they were talking about how the Chinese economy is in trouble, how about 3 trillion dollars was whipped off its’ value and how their economy bubble seems about to pop.
In a lot of ways it made me think of documentaries I have seen about the crash of Wall Street in the 30’s. That and what is happening in Europe makes me wonder if the catastrophe that is the core of E’s stories might be around the corner.
Maybe I should keep an eye out for black trucks and ready myself for standing naked say of chains on an auction block. ;)

Just because the Chinese bubble is looking slightly worn, the US economy is teetering on "the cliff" with it's borrowing requirements, the crash in oil prices is hurting both the Arab states along with Russia and the Greece crisis is dragging all mainland Europe econamically backwards It doesn't mean that there is an "perfect storm" economic crisis imminent

In that case I will be accepting bottled water, canned foods, and/or nuka cola caps in exchange for new comics.

with the Greece crisis on the news I'm thinking the new era can begin at the cradle of western civilization. :D What is the E version of Greece?

Well, by the map we see that Greece is one of those countries with strict anti slavery laws.

So in E's world they could not even trade their way out of debt in that way. Plus they would have the problem of policing their water ways to protect against raiders coming ashore. Plus they would need to deal with an influx of women escaping the red zones in the Mediterranean area near by. Maybe in that world they charge an entry tax on the women escaping and make up their budget that way. ;)

I would lean towards either Brazil or Russia being the first to do this
Brazil hasn't had the greatest time financially after the World Cup and the upcoming Olympics. Plus they've had some concerns in terms of local violence
And Russia could maybe spread the fear and hunting of lgbt people over to women, and Putin is an eye patch and volcano fortress away from killing Austin Powers

Sorry. I was tired. I think putin would be Dr Evil.

But if he was number two I have no idea who Dr Evil would be

Of and additionally, if hell freezes over and Donald Trump actually becomes president of the USA, we will lead the world cock first into the CFSL

If the problem was the World Cup, we would be fine... Brazil hasn`t had the greatest time financially since it got independent from Portugal =/

Actually, I think the great catastrophe has already happened and I slept through it. Easy to do in Los Angeles, where the collapse of civilization probably wouldn't be noticed for months. In fact, there are parts of this city where it's already happened with little visible change. There are areas not far south of where we live that seem to have come right out of a Mad Max movie and locals have adapted to the complete breakdown of institutions with something of a shrug, since those institutions hadn't been operational in their neighborhoods for years.

This reminded of the classic zinger from Charles Grey's Blofeld in Diamonds are Forever

Quote:
The satellite is at present over... Kansas. Well, if we destroy Kansas the world may not hear about it for years.

There is an entire Futurama episode built around this joke.
