My dear fellow sickos and sickettes,

I'm planning to expand my operations in the near future. Possible venues to explore are Patreon, Etsy, Deviantart, and similar others that you can think of. I'm only starting to compile a list of prospective sites myself. I'd appreciate if you suggest other websites that allow artists sell their creations and not openly hostile to BDSM-themed artwork . Let me know what you think, and please share your experiences with these websites (as creators and/or customers).

One of my main concerns is anonymity. I'd prefer to stay unknown while providing a reliable service.

I hope to find some way to sell merchandise like T-shirts, prints, cellphone covers and stuff like that in the next phase. I know there are several companies that help artists with that, but BDSM-friendly ones may be hard to find.

I also want to start doing commissions. This is only possible if I can find a way to keep my anonymity by setting up a reliable payment
apparatus, which seems to be a mythical thing impossible to find. Paypal is unfortunately finicky with our subject area.

I don't have any practical advice I'm afraid but am curious as to what your aim is with selling your art on other sites - is it e.g. to do things that aren't full comics? The merchandising sounds exciting and crazy - the E phonecase lol. Lots of potential with merchandising. Good luck with it all - it's great to hear of these expansion plans. Hopefully others will have some concrete tips for you.

It all comes down to the payment issue, doesn't it? As our friend Ernest Green have pointed out many a times; the money transfer giants do impose a censorship on the world of kink. Sorry, have no advice to offer. I do however support the idea of branching out. Good luck.

There are ways to set up a small business (more or less) anonymously in both the US and Europe. I think in the US it was New Mexico that lets you incorporate an LLC where only a registered agent needs to be named, not any of the company's owners or directors - and you don't have to file annual reports or pay fees/taxes.

Long time lurker that decided to finally make an account with the hopes of one day being able to commission some art from you. I've never used Etsy as a seller or buyer, and I've only ever viewed art on Deviantart, never bought prints from it. Patreon on the other hand I have and do contribute to a few projects on there, but have never set up my own.

I can not speak highly enough of Patreon, in fact I don't really know where to begin or end so hopefully this doesn't come off as too much of a ramble. First part, they seem very open (let alone not hostile) to BDSM/18+ stuff. One of the highest grossing projects on Patreon is Fenoxo Fenfen's Trials in Tainted Space, and they don't seem to hide that fact. Studio FOV also has a successful Patreon, and I'm personally following Fallen Doll's progress on the site. This is no way includes all the smaller harder 18+ stuff (like Mana World Comics that also creates 18+ BDSM comics), and includes none of the more vanilla stuff (and there is plenty of that).

Anonymity. It is there as far as people contributing to you and people from the outside looking in. No one has to know any more than "Erenisch" or whatever name/team/thing you sign up there as. As far as payment goes, I am not totally sure. We/whoever pays Patreon at your defined rates and then Patreon pays you (and takes a 5% cut I believe). Since they are paying you, I assume you need to give them some kind of banking/paypal information. So if you don't want to deal with Paypal and the possibility they steal all your money, you probably need to give Patreon a way to direct deposit your funds to a bank. At least as far as the bank is concerned Patreon is a "real" company, and won't link it to you selling porn. In that sense I don't think it is possible to be completely anonymous from the company "Patreon".

Maybe it is worth a shot sending an email to Fenoxo https://www.fenoxo.com/taintedspace-com-retired/ (Sorry for linking to another site, I can remove it if you don't want it there) and seeing if they can give you a better idea of how to best deal with payment from Patreon. They also seem to only operate under their "handle" and as far as I can tell the only information about him is that he is a male from the US, and that information was given out freely by Fenoxo so I guess it is possible that is dummy info.

Selling stuff. Well Patreon to the best of my knowledge doesn't really give you this option the same way a storefront would. It does give you the ability to give out physical rewards (shirts/ties/stuff) for different Patreon tiers. So you could say something like if you subscribe to my $30 a month tier for 3 consecutive months, you can pick out a shirt design from X Y Z and I will send it to you. Major negative there is that, then you would be sending the reward so either you get a PO box or people are going to know where you send stuff from. Rewards are probably better being digital since then you don't have to worry about a physical address.

So instead you could do something like $500 tier where you will draw a piece of art/character/thing for whoever subscribes to that tier and if you want you can cap the amount of people that can purchase that tier per month. So someone could keep that tier and I guess get a new picture every month or they can purchase it once, drop their subscription to a lower tier and then open up a slot for someone else the next month.

I guess what I am trying to say here is that I hope you do set something up somewhere and that it gives you more resources to continue creating.

I wish I could give you a good option to sell physical goodies, but I am not really interested in that stuff (outside of a nice hardcover copy of the birthday gift series) so I don't really know many places that do that and allow +18 stuff. And hopefully someone has used Deviantart to give you some insight there. I know a lot of artists do sell prints from there and take commissions, but I have personally never bought/commissioned something from there.

Sorry to be pedantic, but this stuff relates to what I do for a living so I got excited.

I think it's important to be clear on the differences between confidentiality and anonymity.

Confidentiality is what one gets from something like Patreon. Patreon knows their customer's real name and other details, but promises to keep that confidential. They're reputable, so we can probably trust them. But they'll still give up our info in the case of subpoenas or lawsuits or warrants, or in the (possible for ANY company) case of data theft and hacking. If you're worried about your mom or spouse or coworkers finding out about your activities, confidentiality is probably perfectly fine for you.

Anonymity is what you get from (for example) using Tor to connect to the Internet and Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to pay and receive money. No one person knows who you are, and it would be incredibly difficult or impossible for you to be tracked down. Anonymity is complicated and difficult to maintain. You'll have anonymity only so long as you NEVER screw up. In practice, high-profile, high-risk individuals get caught all the time. Still, if your activities are a crime where you live, or if you're such a high-profile individual (politician, etc.) that the embarrassment of your activities being revealed would be devastating, anonymity may be a necessity for you.

Assuming you registered erenishcomics.com yourself, you're most likely stuck with confidentiality for your personal details, as your registrar will already know who you are.

My strong suggestion would be to follow the checklist at https://techsolidarity.org/resources/basic_security.htm to get your basics down before doing anything else.

Finally, make sure you're keeping the software that runs your site up-to-date, as hacking this site is the first thing I'd try if I wanted to find out who you were. (For the record, I don't and I didn't.)

Hope this helps! Happy to answer any questions.

Hey there E!

Congrats on the exciting ideas! I'm already excited to spread the word.

May I suggest a model like that of Sex Arcade:
https://www.patreon.com/Sabu

The artist is adding more and more to a singular ongoing interconnected collection of work. His fans get to vote about what's next while he keeps doing what he loves.

One key to popularity is the focus on licensed characters from games and shows. Not sure how that works, and not sure that it applies. In E-verse, perhaps people could vote for "do a school detention scene" or "do a pool party scene".

With commissions and swag in the real world, one problem that gives me pause is how the message might read. There isn't room for a disclaimer page, or a space to explain that we should find consenting partners to indulge in shared fantasies. I hope that you navigate that gracefully.

PS: I'm excited!

Ooh, the Patreon idea is super exciting. Obviously it's hard to guess, but probably there are enough of us willing to put down some amount for every comic that comes out, however often and whatever theme that might be. I'd imagine all your regular buyers (financially able) would do so, perhaps earning you more than dofantasy pays (certainly more per comic sold, maybe even enough to go full-time if you choose), and of course preventing you from being caught in a logjam over there.
