I have been writing a novella set in my universe in order to see if I can pull it off. I wonder if the forumfolk would be interested buying something like that. I just browsed through Dofantasy's novels to see the format. It looks like they have 50-80 page novels with 15 or so illustrations interspersed.

Let me know your opinion on this if you please. Any ideas about length, pricing, etc will be greatly appreciated.

Go for it. I think you’d do a great job.

Length - however many pages it takes to tell the story you are wanting to tell

Price- depends on how long the the story is. However, I read if it’s just a ebook that 4.99 is a good price for long stories

Iam not the biggest bookworm, but a novel in this Universe would definitely raise my interest!

About the lenght: Totally agree with dougeee :ugeek:

Price: I think you shouldnt sell your quality and creativity under value! Its hard to say a price without knowing your idea , but i would pay surely 15 - 20 Euros.
Especially, because of the unique story of your Eniverse

Peace Out :maggie:

I'd buy it but I think the price should be lower than a normal comic. 10-13 euros sounds fine to me. I think novels at Dofantasy are overpriced mostly.

I trust you with the length. It should be better than comics with page limits.

I would probably prefer illustrated novels over comics actually. So I def buy them.

Thing is, I believe you see a scene, an image in your mind's eye, and you draw that image. Then you have to put in a lot of effort drawing, coloring, shading, images to create panes around that first inspired one to describe/setup the scene. This can be done, I believe, a lot easier and in more detailed descriptive way in text.

Thus you'd be able to focus more on developing the story, rather than laboring with the craftsmanship of putting a comic together.

Ooh, fun notion!

10-15 euros feels about right, 50-80 pages seems perfect, and 10-15 illustrations seems like a dream.

I feel like the story should not be directly intertwined with the comic, but parallel — perhaps with occasional cameos of our familiar folks. Also, I feel like the story should feel meaningful, fleshing out the universe in richer ways... and with lots of room for lots of sequels.

I’d love to chime in on topics and themes if you have some to run by us!

The suggested length of 50-60 pages seems OK for your current fans who have a lot of potentially useful background information about your expected themes. But a story like you usually tell with an overall arc and layers of interaction will be hard to do justice at that length. You do so well with your images (you know the old a picture is worth a thousand words) I am hard pressed to think I will form the attachment I have for :maggie: :melanie: :carol: :tawnie: :sherry: and Peter within the scope of a Novella. But the idea still interests me...as long as it doesn't delay the long awaited new Maggie and Peter story (unless it is actually about them of course  ).

I'm learning harsh lessons about my limitations as a prose writer, but I'm getting the hang of it. I have about 35 pages right now.

By the way, this novella isn't about Maggie and the gang. It is a standalone story that begins at Slavemart and wanders around my universe after that. I don't have a plot or ending in mind. I'm just writing freestyle to turn myself on.

I join the rest of the voices interested in this idea.

Personally I enjoy short stories that squeeze a scene, over longer stories. But honestly, knowing your master's degree as a screenwriter, I'm sure I'll also enjoy a novel written by you.

Writing can be a fantastic idea not only to be able to capture those ideas that otherwise would be impossible to show in comics, but also to discover a new facet of this universe that you have created (New characters, new plot arcs, new fantasies ...).

Go ahead with it, I'm looking forward to seeing the final result.
